With over billions of downloads, Zoom has dominated the online video-call conferencing zone since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, it simplified work-from-home culture, with every major organization and institution adapting Zoom for its smooth functioning and learning.
Since its subtle announcement last year of developing a new PWA (Progressive Web App) for the Chromebook OS, Zoom has been constantly in a phase of trial and error with multiple complaints and updates.
As announced: August will be seeing the end of the Zoom App for Chromebooks.
Why make the shift to Zoom PWA?
ZOOM PWA: Lighter but faster and feature-loaded.
With Trial and error, Zoom has improved the user experience with its new offering. With the usage of hardware encoding, there has been an improvement in its camera framerate thus decreasing the lags on video calls.
Virtual background feature: With attention to privacy or having a professional look for your business meeting or an important interview, Zoom allows you to display a video or an image as your background with the use of a green screen.
Coffee-cup option feature: Indicating that you are temporarily away from the meeting.
Video in the waiting room: Customize the appearance of your waiting room in the web portal by adding video for your participants while they wait for the host to allow them in the meeting.
A list of all your meetings: PWA will have an additional tab, displaying a list of all your upcoming meetings. Making it easier for you to prepare or send a reminder to your valuable clients.
Auto-Login with Google Authentication Page: Ease of login from your Chromebook, with an auto-direct PWA login to the Google Authentication page, where users can select their Google credentials.
Auto-Launch on Chrome OS: By clicking on the joining link, users will be directed to the Zoom PWA.
As the recent updates include: Dedicated audio and video pages, an enhanced PWA contact list, and a Persistent Gallery view after pinning; the maximum “Gallery” size has been increased to 20 which was just limited to 9 screens per screen.
Any latest updates provided by Zoom will be published and updated, as per source.
