Sony has begun pushing out Android 12 releases for the Xperia 1 II and Xperia PRO after releasing stable builds for the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III last month.
The upgrades include the January 2022 Android security patches, as well as all of the new features introduced by Google in Android 12.
Users in the United States are receiving Android 12 upgrades for the Xperia 1 II (software version 58.2.A.0.899) and Xperia PRO (software version 58.2.A.0.899).
We don't have complete changelogs for the device-specific upgrades just yet, but the release should include all of Android 12's new features as well as the January 2022 patches.
Note that the update for the Xperia 1 II is now only available for the global single-SIM variant (XQ-AT51), while the update for the Xperia PRO is only available for the dual SIM US variant (XQ-AQ62). We don't know when the update will be available for further variations of these devices at this time.
If you possess one of these smartphones, the OTA update notification for the upgrade should arrive soon. To avoid any problems after receiving the update, make a backup of your data and charge your phone to at least 60% before pressing the install button.
If you don't want to wait for your Xperia 1 II or Xperia PRO to receive an OTA notification, you can manually check for the update by going to the Software update area in the device settings. XDA Senior Member IgorEisberg's XperiFirm program can also be used to get the whole firmware package. The firmware can then be flashed using Flashtool (GIU) or Newflasher (CUI).
Have you already obtained Android 12 on your Xperia 1 II or Xperia PRO? In the comments section below, post a screenshot of the changelog.
