Nothing Phone (2)’s first update brings camera improvements

Four new wallpapers have been added, along with a convenient one-handed mode. Reworked Nothing Machine ringtones and notification sounds from Phone (1) provide a refreshing audio experience.

The highly anticipated Nothing Phone (2) was recently unveiled and is set to go on sale online soon, following its availability at select pop-up stores around the world. Excitingly, the device has already received its inaugural software update, which holds a range of enhancements for users fortunate enough to have acquired it.

A notable highlight of this substantial update is the array of camera improvements. Users can anticipate enhancements such as Portrait mode supporting 2x zoom, Motion capture in 50 MP mode, optimized HDR effectiveness, improved photo clarity at zoom levels between 4x and 10x, enhanced camera quality in third-party apps, and reduced lag when capturing videos. Additionally, the stabilization algorithm for videos has been refined, ensuring smoother footage.

Beyond camera enhancements, the update brings improvements in battery and charging performance, especially under extreme conditions. Users can now expect better wireless charging functionality and greater consistency in Battery Share. Face unlocking and fingerprint sensor performance have also been enhanced, improving the overall user experience.

Several bugs have been addressed, including issues related to Quick Settings expansion and NFC functionality. General bug fixes have also been implemented, contributing to a more stable operating system. Network stability has been improved, ensuring a reliable connection. Moreover, the introduction of Glyph Composer to the Play Store allows users to create and record their own Glyph Ringtones, adding a personalized touch to their device.
