The new OLED panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ content, delivering smooth and vibrant visuals.
After a series of leaks, OnePlus has finally unveiled its highly anticipated mid-range smartphone for 2023, the OnePlus Nord 3. This new device comes with a range of upgrades compared to its predecessor, the Nord 2T, including a larger and improved display, a more powerful chipset, and a bigger battery.
The OnePlus Nord 3 features a larger 6.74-inch display, a significant upgrade from the 6.43-inch screen of the previous model, placing it in a different size category. The new OLED panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ content, delivering smooth and vibrant visuals. Notably, the screen boasts a higher resolution of 1240 x 2772 pixels, ensuring a sharp and detailed viewing experience.
With an ultra-fast 1000Hz touch response rate and 10-bit color depth, the Nord 3’s display offers exceptional touch sensitivity and a wide range of colors. It also has the capability to adjust its refresh rate dynamically within the 40-120Hz range. To complement the immersive display, the Nord 3 is equipped with Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers, providing high-quality audio output for an enhanced multimedia experience.
Under the hood, the OnePlus Nord 3 features the new MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset, replacing the previous Dimensity 1300, and offering significant performance and efficiency improvements. It comes in two memory configurations: 8GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage or 16GB of RAM with 256GB of storage, providing ample space for apps, media, and files.
The camera setup remains unchanged from its predecessor, featuring a 50MP Sony IMX890 main sensor with a large 1/1.56″ size and 1.0µm pixel pitch. The main sensor is paired with an optically-stabilized lens with an f/1.9 aperture. The device also includes an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view, and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, there’s an upgraded 16MP selfie camera.
Powering the OnePlus Nord 3 is a substantial 5,000mAh battery, a notable increase from the 4,500mAh capacity of its predecessor. The device supports 80W fast charging, ensuring quick and efficient recharging. OnePlus claims that the battery health remains optimal even after four years of daily charging.
The smartphone comes pre-installed with Android 13, based on the OxygenOS 13 interface. OnePlus has committed to providing three years of software updates, guaranteeing that users will receive three major Android OS updates during the device’s lifespan.
In terms of design, the OnePlus Nord 3 adopts a cleaner and more minimalist aesthetic, featuring flat edges and a flat glass back panel. The device is IP54-certified, offering protection against splashes and dust. Additionally, it retains the iconic alert slider on the side, allowing for quick and convenient control over notification settings.
The OnePlus Nord 3 will be available in two color options: Misty Green and Tempest Gray. The starting price for the 8GB/128GB variant is €499, while the 16GB/256GB model is priced at €549. However, OnePlus is offering an early bird discount on the latter, reducing the price to €499 until July 31, making it an attractive offer for those seeking a powerful mid-range device with an exceptional user experience.
