Just trying to identify that catchy tune during my latest show obsession turned into a tech nightmare! I fired up Shazam from the notification panel, like usual, but instead of the familiar “Shazamming” sound, my phone froze for what felt like an eternity (okay, maybe three minutes).
After a forced restart, everything seemed fine… until I reached for Shazam again.
Now, here’s the weird part: of my life where my phone acts like it has selective mutism which means that there is no sound from the speakers or headphones whatsoever. But the finger-pointing culprit seems to be Shazam here.
It works for a fleeting moment when I’m not logged in, but then goes completely haywire, even after I cleared my entire Shazam history, the app cache from the Phone Settings section in a desperate attempt to fix things.
Is it a clash between Shazam and the video app?
Frustrated and hoping for a fix, I submitted a detailed bug report to the Shazam developers. While I haven’t heard back yet, they likely have a team of engineers investigating the issue. Hopefully, a solution is on the horizon to reunite Shazam with its intended purpose – identifying those mysterious tunes without turning my phone into a techno-brick.
Meanwhile, I switched to my OnePlus 8T Pro and the Google Assistant to search for the tune, and I managed to find it – so I am sorted but….. ( I wonder whether it’s time for the legendary music app to go away or it’s just a normal glitch that might get solved with the next update rolled out?)
Did some rogue data glitch take over Shazam?
I’m at a loss here. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that this isn’t a widespread issue, but if anyone else is experiencing Shazam-induced phone freezes and sound meltdowns, let me know in the comments below!
